As we have all learned through the COVID-19 global pandemic, teachers are our heroes and parents got an inside look at what teachers do every day during a three month lock down in the spring of 2020. Teachers have continued to show us the great lengths they will go to ensure the success of their students as they have juggled teaching students in a variety of ways through remote and traditional learning environments.

Teachers were tasked with quite a feat as they began the 2020-2021 school year. Many teachers retaught concepts from the spring of 2020 and introduced new information to students this past fall. Teachers not only had students in the classroom but were teaching additional students online during school and tirelessly worked outside of school hours to create videos and other supplemental online resources. When Phillips 66 saw a need they could meet for our teachers at T.W. Ogg elementary in Clute, Texas, they jumped at the chance to help. With their generous donation of $10,000, T.W. Ogg was able to purchase large monitors for each teacher so that they could more easily connect with the students online, rather than try to communicate and teach them through a single Chromebook screen. On this second larger screen teachers are able to better monitor students at home and connect with them, as well as see the work they are completing.

Kristi Traylor, T.W. Ogg principal said, “These screens will be a tremendous help to our teachers not only while teaching remote students, but every day in the classroom. We are so thankful for Phillips 66 and their desire to support our teachers and students.” Brittany Rosenbohm, Director of Alternative Funding added, “Community partners, like Phillips 66, make communities stronger by their investments in the needs of our students and teachers. When students perform better because of the resources available to our teachers, the entire community benefits. We are so grateful for Phillips 66 and their desire to meet this need.”

“At Phillips 66, one of our philanthropic focus areas in education and literacy,” shared David Bevill, Gulf Coast Operations Superintendent at Phillips 66. “We admire the dedication teachers have to their students and are honored to be able to support these technology needs with our grant.”
