Mrs. Esther Olivares, Going the Extra Mile
Mrs. Esther Olivares, the Freeport Intermediate Child Nutrition Manager, was recognized by the Brazosport ISD Board of Trustees for her outstanding efforts in organizing the Third Annual Brazosport Association of School Nutrition, Pancakes with Santa, in December, at Freeport Intermediate School. Students from every campus in the district were identified by their school counselors, along with their siblings, to participate in this annual event.
Over 160 children were identified and benefited from this special event. Esther’s efforts in ensuring the success of this program included contacting each family to find out the needs and likes of each and every child, overseeing the production of a delicious to-go pancake breakfast, and presenting each child with 4 to 5 personalized gifts that Mrs. Esther Olivares and her very special partner, her mother Rachel Hernandez, helped Santa wrap all of the gifts.
To make the event possible, Olivares secured over $12,500.00 in donations from various businesses and individuals in the Brazosport community. Her largest donations were from Spin Master, along with a donation of toys worth over $5,000 from the Natalie Woolsey Toy Drive Foundation.
Because of Esther Olivares’ heart of service, and love for our Brazosport family, many of our students felt the spirit of the holidays in the most loving way. Thank you, Esther Olivares, for going the Extra Mile for our students and community.
