The campaign goal of 5 million dollars will sustain, support and build current and future programs.

The Brazosport area is home to many major industrial leaders and other businesses that employ graduates from Brazosport ISD. By contributing to this campaign, donors have the opportunity to contribute to the overall growth of the District’s CTE programs which are dedicated to providing industries with a highly skilled and talented workforce for years to come.

Brian Cole, Brazosport ISD’s Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction said, “Partnerships help to enhance the great programs our district offers to ensure our students have the opportunity to work with industry standard equipment for our region. It helps them to build relationships with some of the outstanding employers in our area.” When asked what the future holds for CTE at Brazosport ISD, Cole said, “Our programs will always evolve as we strive to meet the ever changing needs of our community and industry partners."

BISD’s Career and Technical Education Department goal is to ensure that all students receive an education with emphasis in career and technical fields designed to meet their career and college ready goals. In order to ensure this practice, the department has developed a district plan with a focus on higher expectations for student performance, opportunities for staff and teachers to continue to learn and improve instructional practices, and measurable outcomes for continuous evaluation.

“The mission of Brazosport ISD is to graduate each student to be future ready and it is our belief that partnerships are vital to strengthening learning experiences for our students. Through these partnerships with local industries and businesses we have the opportunity to understand workforce demands to ensure we are graduating students with skills needed for high wage and high demand areas,” said Superintendent Danny Massey.

With new CTE facilities funded by the voter approved 2019 bond program BISD can now expand and implement courses and pathway offerings at a greater level. Areas of course expansion include STEM (Engineering and Cybersecurity), Health Science (EMT, Pharmacy Tech, Dental Assistant), Architecture & Construction (Expanding Construction), Information Technology, Manufacturing (Expanding Welding Opportunities), Cosmetology and Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources (Veterinary Technician). The new CTE Center at Brazoswood High School will open in August 2021 and will be over 65,000 square feet. Brazosport High School CTE facilities are planned to encompass over 63,000 square feet and open August 2023.

Superintendent Danny Massey said, “The vision of Brazosport ISD is to set the standard for educational excellence. These partnerships help provide opportunities for that vision now and in the future.”

Dow Chemical has pledged to donate 2.5 million dollars to support the campaign being Brazosport ISD’s first major donor of the Major Giving Campaign. Donations made by partners like Dow Chemical will guarantee that Brazosport ISD’s CTE programs will have a strong and stable future, while continuing to provide a pathway to careers within Brazoria County.

“At Dow we are always looking for ways to invest in the next generation of diverse leaders and innovators,” said Dow Public Affairs Manager, Gabriella Cone. “One of the three strategic pillars in our giving strategy is Developing a Ready Workforce and we know this new CTE facility is going to provide countless opportunities for students and teachers to take learning to the next level. We are very proud to support BISD’s mission to provide quality educational facilities with this contribution to kick-off their major giving campaign.”

CTE Director Jessie Jennings said, “Partnerships with local industry shows businesses are committed to investing in creating future skilled laborers, thereby producing a sustainable and efficient workforce pipeline. These partnerships and giving opportunities create an investment in our entire program and allows us to provide real world relevant learning experiences, making them better prepared for success upon graduation.”

While donations from industry partners are at the center of the major giving campaign, local businesses and leaders can contribute in a multitude of ways. Many people associated with different businesses serve in different capacities that benefit local CTE efforts. Whether it's through BISD’s Advisory Council, Brazoria County Petrochemical Council Workforce Development Committee, Associated Builders and Contractors or assisting with program development, many different local leaders help with making BISD’s CTE program one of the best in the state.

“With partnerships and facility additions, BISD can continue to grow and provide a valuable pipeline of talent that will be ready to enter into the workforce at high volumes here locally for years to come. With an estimate of 20,000 newly created jobs in the next 10 years for Brazoria County alone, it is critical that we continue to expand and create opportunities for members of our community,” said Resource Development Coordinator Aaron Ennis.
