Congratulations Elementary Teacher of the Year Staci Woodall, 5th grade math teacher from Grady Rasco Middle School and Secondary Teacher of the Year Elon Coates, dance teacher from Lake Jackson Intermediate School.





Elementary Teacher of the Year - Staci Woodall
Ms. Woodall has taught in BISD for fifteen years, serving as a 5th and 6th Grade math teacher. She has not only been a classroom teacher at Rasco, but also a leader at the school. Woodall serves as the Math Department Head, an Academic Team Leader, Spelling Bee Coordinator, Capturing Kids Heart Process Champion, Campus Improvement Committee Member and als as the UIL Campus Coordinator. Ms. Woodall’s favorite quote is, “There’s no place like home,” from the Wizard of Oz and she considers her classroom as her home, and home to her students.



Secondary Teacher of the Year - Elon Coates
Ms. Coates is in her fourth year of teaching dance at LJI and she has served her campus as an Instructional Team Leader and as the Head of the Physical Education Department. Elon sponsors the LJI Panther Power Dance Team and the LJI Cheer Squad. She also finds time to teach dance outside of school in a lodal studio. Coates seeks to empower and enlighten her “students to the art of dance and its importance to our collective history.”

Woodall and Coates will represent Brazosport ISD this summer in the Houston area’s 2021-2022 Region IV Education Service Center Teacher of the Year Competition.
