The Brazoswood varsity robotics team, Texas Fried Chicken competed at the State Robotics Tournament after placing 1st at the Houston Regional Contest. The state event was held June 15-17, 2021 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The team was one of twenty-nine 5A and 6A classification schools that qualified for the UIL competition. After a tough start, the team rallied to end the first day as part of the 4th place alliance.

The following two days were the Texas Cup open division competition. Brazoswood was one of 72 teams among two divisions competing. This time, the team scored the second highest score (430) in the qualifying round and ended the competition ranked in the top 15 teams.

Coach Brad Whitehead said, “This was a year of many firsts. We programmed our robot entirely in JAVA, successfully implemented computer vision to track objects, won the Inspire award at league level, won 1st at regionals, and participated in the semi-finals at state. We are thrilled with our progress and are looking forward to next year in the new robotics lab!”

Congratulations to Mr. Whitehead and these outstanding students on their hard work, tenacity and accomplishments.
