Amy Lee and Megan Strawn were surprised during their Student Council class period today by Foundation founder Shannon Warny Whitley, benefactor Coburn Chiropractic, their parents (Mr. & Mrs. Kyehan Lee and Mr. & Mrs. Joshua Strawn), Principal Rita Pintavalle and Superintendent Danny Massey along with other administrators.

The foundation was created by Shannon Whitley in memory of her late husband, former NFL player Taylor Whitley, whose motto was “Show Up. Give a Flip. Repeat.” As she has stated numerous time and again shared with those in attendance, “Taylor believed that character is everything and can take you farther in life than anything you could achieve in anything else.”

Both girls were nominated by their Student Council Sponsor Mrs. Stephanie Jess.Mrs. Jess expressed that both girls were dedicated to their school, to the student council and to the Brazoswood student body. Both were commended for always being dependable, going the extra mile and for always ‘showing up” to help out.

Amy and Megan each received checks of $500 to be used for their future plans.
