One of the sessions involves the directors of the Brazoswood Jazz Band, led by D.J. Eisenhart who will be presenting a clinic on educational jazz techniques, using the P.M. Jazz Band as a demonstration group. They will present to music educators across the state on the processes used to develop high performing jazz musicians.

Additionally, the Brazoswood Chamber Music class has been invited to present a Music Showcase at the conference. This is a class of student-led ensembles that will present a recital of their work. Brazoswood High School is unique, as very few schools in Texas have a class devoted to small ensembles, particularly those that are led by the students themselves. This is the fourth time that an ensemble from Brazoswood has been invited to perform at the conference in the last 10 years.

“It’s an honor to be invited to present to music teachers from across the state,” said Martin Montoya. “We very much appreciate the support of our amazing administration in BISD, and look forward to the opportunity to represent Brazoswood for the Texas Music Educators Association."

The Texas Music Educators Association is comprised of over 13,000 music educators in five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary, and College. The convention is the largest and most prestigious of its kind, held annually, with over 30,000 educators, students, exhibitors and performers in attendance. This year’s TMEA Convention will be held in February at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
