Brazosport Independent School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Ludivina "Ludi" Cansino as the district's new Chief Financial Officer. Cansino holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas Pan-American and brings nearly two decades of financial leadership in education, offering a wealth of experience in financial management, strategic planning, and operational excellence to BISD.
Cansino most recently served as the Chief Financial and Operations Officer at Del Valle ISD and Flour Bluff ISD, where she oversaw finance, operations, and various district departments, including maintenance, transportation and child nutrition. She has also held financial leadership positions in South San Antonio ISD, Alice ISD, and Rio Grande City CISD, and served as the Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations at Donna ISD. Throughout her 19-year career, she has successfully managed multi-million-dollar budgets, spearheaded cost-saving initiatives, and played a pivotal role in maintaining fiscal compliance and transparency. Notably, she led a successful Voter-Approved Tax Ratification Election (VATRE), demonstrating her ability to navigate complex financial landscapes while collaborating with key stakeholders.
Ludi Cansino will succeed Rebecca Kelley, who has served as Brazosport ISD’s Chief Financial Officer for the past seven years. Her guidance and leadership were pivotal in helping BISD achieve the highest rating in the FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) rating system since its inception in 2001, a tradition of excellence that will continue under Cansino’s direction.
Kelley played an instrumental role in the hiring process and has expressed her full support for Cansino as she steps into this new role. "It has been an honor to serve Brazosport ISD, and I am confident that Ludi Cansino is the right person to continue leading the district’s financial operations. Her experience and passion for fiscal responsibility will ensure that the district remains on solid financial ground,” Kelley shared.
Superintendent Danny Massey expressed his confidence in the district’s financial leadership, both past and future, saying, “We are grateful to Rebecca Kelley for her years of dedicated service, which helped Brazosport ISD maintain an outstanding record of financial stewardship. Ludi is recognized for her strategic leadership, integrity, and commitment to driving continuous improvement within finance and operations. Her expertise in school finance and operations, coupled with Rebecca’s support during the transition, will ensure we continue to prioritize educational excellence and financial stability.”
"Joining Brazosport ISD is a privilege, and I am excited to contribute to our commitment to student success,” said Cansino. “I look forward to working closely with the team to ensure the financial health and stewardship of our district while supporting our mission of providing every child with the highest quality education."
