Red Ribbon Week, the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country, will be in full swing in Brazosport ISD October 28-November 1, 2024
This year’s theme is:
Life is a Movie. Film Drug Free. We are excited to continue our long-standing district tradition of the CHICKEN (Cool, Honest, Intelligent, Clear-Headed, Keen, Energetic, Not-interested-in-drugs) Club. Fourth grade students will participate in assemblies full of positive messages about making good choices and reaching for their full potential during rallies that will be held at both Brazosport and Brazoswood high schools.
Every campus in BISD will spend the week creating awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs while supporting healthy, productive lifestyles. Activities often include themes like “socking it to drugs” (by wearing colorful socks) or “teaming up against drugs” (by wearing your favorite sports shirt).
Since its beginning in 1985, Red Ribbon Week has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing red ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America.
We hope you will join us in supporting our students as they show their commitment to staying drug-free! Check the link below for all the fun activities planned on each campus!
