This school year the Brazosport ISD’s Human Resources Department introduced a new educator recognition program that highlights the district’s theme: Mission First, Team Always, Future Ready. This award celebrates outstanding staff members who exemplify the district’s commitment to student success, collaboration, and innovation.
The Mission First, Team Always Educator Award recognizes teachers who:
- Prioritize student success with purpose and integrity (Mission First),
- Foster collaboration and trust to strengthen the team (Team Always), and
- Embrace innovation and lifelong learning to prepare students to be Future Ready.
“Our educators are the heart of our mission to graduate each student to be future ready,” said Jennifer Nabors, Chief Human Resources Officer. “This recognition allows us to spotlight those who not only lead with purpose in their classrooms but also strengthen our teams and prepare students for tomorrow’s opportunities.”

Elementary Honoree: Alyssa Zaragoza, Lanier Elementary
Lanier’s administration team and peers shared that Mrs. Zaragoza embodies “Mission First, Team Always.” As 3rd Grade Math Team Leader, she guides her team with clarity and collaboration, ensuring every student masters essential TEKS. She goes above and beyond to support colleagues, share resources, and bring positivity and innovative ideas to the classroom. Alyssa keeps student success at the forefront, believes All Means ALL, and consistently models teamwork, dedication, and commitment to Lanier’s mission.
Secondary Honoree: Rochelle Allen, Lake Jackson Intermediate
Campus administrators and peers stated that Ms. Allen exemplifies “Mission First, Team Always” through her unwavering dedication to the success of the entire LJI community. She collaborates seamlessly with colleagues, contributes innovative ideas during planning, and provides ongoing support through professional development. Always ready to lend a hand, lift spirits, and bring positivity, Ms. Allen brightens the day for both staff and students. She knows every student by name and finds ways to make each one feel special. Her kindness, energy, and commitment to shared goals inspire everyone around her to give their best and strengthen our school community.
