Durham is an experienced instructional leader with a strong background in campus leadership, instructional coaching, and school culture development. Throughout her career, she has focused on creating positive, structured learning environments where students feel supported, staff are empowered, and high expectations lead to strong outcomes.

Most recently serving as an assistant principal at Clute Intermediate School, Durham has led campus behavior systems, supported student interventions, and helped strengthen overall campus culture and student engagement. Her experience also includes facilitating professional development for teachers, working alongside PLC teams to support student growth, and overseeing daily campus operations, safety procedures, and student support systems.

Prior to campus leadership, Durham served as a Math Content Specialist at Brazosport High School, where she provided instructional coaching, designed professional learning for educators, and supported alignment between district and campus instructional practices. Earlier in her career, she served as a mathematics teacher and held campus leadership roles including department chair and UIL coordinator.

Durham holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sports Science from Texas State University. Her certifications include Principal as Instructional Leader (EC–12), Mathematics (4–8 and 8–12), Physical Education (EC–12), and T-TESS Appraiser.

Brazosport ISD Superintendent Danny Massey shared, “Stephanye Durham brings a strong focus on student success, positive relationships, and supporting great teaching and learning. Those qualities align with our commitment to setting the standard for educational excellence.”

Durham has also been recognized for her leadership and impact throughout her career, including being named Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year (2023–2024), District Secondary Teacher of the Year (2019–2020), and Campus Teacher of the Year (2019–2020).

In accepting the role, Durham shared her commitment to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families, and to leading a campus where students are supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow each day.

Brazosport ISD looks forward to the leadership, vision, and dedication Stephanye Durham will bring to Gladys Polk Elementary as the campus continues its commitment to excellence.
