BISD Brings the Community Together for the Fourth Annual 5K Fun Run and Wellness Fair
Brazosport ISD celebrated health, fitness, and community spirit on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the fourth annual 5K Fun Run and Wellness Fair. Starting and finishing at the Brazoswood CTE Center, the event attracted approximately 560 runners, walkers, and families, all joining to embrace active lifestyles and connect with local health resources.
The morning kicked off with lively music from Phillip Ward of Man & Bride and a dynamic warm-up led by Merie Abercrombie, energizing the crowd for the day ahead. BISD Superintendent Danny Massey and Director of Benefits and Wellness, Rachel Arthur, welcomed attendees, followed by the pledges led by Brazoswood FFA.
The Kid’s Fun Run got underway with a confetti launch from Superintendent Danny Massey, and our sponsors who were in attendance: Allyson Waybright with Next Level Medical, Nicole Yaklin with Yaklin Ford, and Tonya Visor with UTMB. The Kids 1K was immediately followed by the Family 5K. Participants wore official bibs with timing chips, and the 3.2-mile course was lined with more than 15 student groups from across BISD, cheering and encouraging every runner along the way.
After crossing the finish line, participants enjoyed the Wellness Fair inside the CTE Center, where local health and wellness organizations shared valuable resources, programs, and interactive activities. Many also contributed door prizes, including gift cards, free fitness sessions, and exercise equipment. The Buc Café offered refreshments for participants and spectators, rounding out a morning of fitness, fun, and community connection.
Campus Champ:
This year, Brazos Success Academy and Rasco Middle School earned recognition for the highest participation, each taking home a trophy to celebrate their campus spirit.
