Bringing the community, staff, and students together for the annual BISD Family 5K Fun Run and Wellness Fair doesn’t happen by chance, it happens because someone goes the extra mile. This year, that recognition goes to Rachel Arthur, Brazosport ISD’s Director of Benefits, Wellness, and Sub Solutions.
Rachel’s leadership, creativity, and dedication are the driving forces behind this highly anticipated district event. Each year, she and her team work tirelessly to plan, organize, and execute a day filled with energy, community spirit, and meaningful connections. From coordinating with local vendors, health organizations, and student groups to ensuring every detail runs smoothly, Rachel brings people together around a shared goal: promoting health, fitness, and fun for the entire BISD family.
This year marked the fourth annual fun run, with participation continuing to grow. In September, more than 560 runners and walkers joined the 5K and kids run, alongside numerous families and community members who came together to celebrate wellness and connection in one of BISD’s most beloved traditions. The success of the event was made possible through the support of volunteers, sponsors, local partners, vendor and health organizations at the wellness fair, and over 20 student groups who contributed by cheering on participants, staffing water stations, assisting along the race route, and helping with cleanup.
“Rachel’s passion for wellness and commitment to our employees, students, and families shine through in every detail of this event,” said Superintendent Danny Massey. “Because of her dedication, the BISD Family 5K and Wellness Fair continues to inspire our community to live well, stay active, and celebrate together.”
Brazosport ISD is proud to recognize Rachel Arthur with the Extra Mile Award, honoring her unwavering commitment to creating experiences that strengthen connections across the district. Thank you, Rachel, for going the extra mile for BISD!
