February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a time to recognize the impact of CTE programs in preparing students for high-wage, high-skill, and in-demand careers. Brazosport ISD is proud to offer extensive CTE opportunities that equip students with technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and industry-recognized credentials to succeed in their chosen career paths.
This year marks a significant milestone for BISD as both the Brazoswood and Brazosport High School CTE Centers are now fully open, providing students with enhanced opportunities for real-world learning. While CTE programs have long been a part of BISD, these facilities have expanded students' access to cutting-edge equipment, specialized workspaces, and advanced instruction.
Made possible through the district’s bond initiatives and valuable industry partnerships, these CTE centers offer advanced learning environments in programs such as Welding, Construction, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Health Science, Graphic Design, Rocketry, Robotics, and even Vet Tech Services—including grooming and animal care available to the community. These facilities not only strengthen technical training but also promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills essential for today’s workforce.
“There’s nothing better than seeing a student light up when they realize they are good at something they love,” said Bridgette Percle, BISD CTE Director. “Whether it’s a culinary student perfecting their signature dish, a welding student mastering their first project, or a rocketry student successfully launching their first design, we want them to find a path that fuels their passion and sets them up for success beyond high school. Our CTE teachers and staff do an amazing job guiding and supporting students every step of the way.”
BISD’s CTE programs go beyond traditional classroom learning, offering students the chance to earn industry certifications, dual credit, and leadership experience through career-focused student organizations. Whether planning to enter the workforce, attend college, or join the military, students graduate with the skills and credentials to give them a competitive edge in their future careers.
