We are so excited to announce that 13 campuses within Brazosport Independent School District have earned a total of 39 state distinctions according to the 2022 Texas Education Agency (TEA) accountability ratings. This is eight more distinctions than in 2019 and 24 more than the previous year. The district as a whole received the distinction of Postsecondary Readiness.
Roberts Elementary School earned all of the TEA distinctions available for elementary campuses (5). In 2019, BISD campuses earned 31 distinctions and the previous year it earned fifteen. TEA has not announced distinctions since 2019 due to the pandemic.
“We are so proud to have earned more state distinctions this year than previously, despite the many challenges faced the last two years,” said Superintendent Danny Massey. “We applaud our campus staff for their tremendous efforts to ensure our students are learning at high levels and growing each year no matter the obstacles they have to face.”
Congratulations to the students and staff of:

As a result, staff members of these campuses will receive additional pay for each distinction their campus received. The BISD Board approved an additional $200 for professional staff and $100 for support staff for each TEA distinction earned by their school. This equates to an additional $1,000 for OM Roberts Elementary School’s professional staff and $500 for every support staff member for the five distinctions earned.
Distinction designations are awarded for achievement based on performance relative to a group of campuses from across the state that are of similar type, size, grade span and student demographics. Twenty of the distinctions earned by these campuses and the district came in the areas of Postsecondary Readiness, Academic Growth and Closing Performance Gaps, which are areas impacted by the district’s ongoing intervention and Professional Learning Communities initiatives. And for the 2022 year, Roberts Elementary earned every possible distinction for which they qualified.
