Brazosport ISD hosted the 2025 Back to School Rocket Camp, held July 29-31 at the Brazoswood High School CTE Center. The single-day camp — offered over three days — gave young STEM enthusiasts a high-flying opportunity to explore the world of rocketry alongside experienced high school mentors.
Each day, a small group of incoming 3rd and 4th grade students worked closely with members and recent graduates of the Brazoswood Rocketry Program, engaging in hands-on activities designed to introduce them to the fundamentals of rocket science and STEM careers. Campers learned how rockets work, explored school-based STEM pathways, and even built and launched their own rockets under careful supervision.
“This camp was all about sparking curiosity and giving students the chance to experience science in action,” said Chris McLeod, Rocketry Program Director. “It is always a joy to watch our older students become mentors and help these young students build and launch rockets.”
Rocket Camp continues to be a popular and impactful event, inspiring the next generation of engineers and innovators.
