At the regularly scheduled Board meeting on June 15, 2026, Brazosport ISD Trustee Mason P. Howard took his oath of office, administered by Chief Financial Officer Ludivina Cansino. Following the May 2, 2026, election, Howard was officially sworn in to continue his service to the students, families, staff, and community of Brazosport ISD.

Trustee Scott Schwertner, who was also re-elected in the May election, was unable to attend the June meeting and will take his oath of office at the July Board meeting.


    
Mason P. Howard – District 7
Mason P. Howard originally joined the BISD Board of Trustees in May 2011 and is beginning another three-year term representing District 7.

A lifelong resident of the district, Howard graduated from Brazosport High School in 1987. He and his wife, Paulette, a BISD educator, have two children: Michael Paul (Brazosport High School Class of 2010) and Robin Lindsey Viola (Brazosport High School Class of 2017).

Howard has owned and operated Mason Builders since 1999. His company specializes in remodeling and additions throughout the community.



Scott Schwertner – District 6
Scott Schwertner was first elected to the BISD Board of Trustees in May 2014 and is beginning his fifth full term representing District 6.

A proud graduate of Brazosport ISD and Texas A&M University, Schwertner is a partner with the state tax consulting firm Invoke Tax Partners. He previously served on the Lake Jackson City Council from 2010 to 2014.

Scott and his wife, Kristen, are active community volunteers who support numerous local charities and organizations. They have two daughters attending BISD schools. Schwertner is a familiar presence at athletic events, fine arts performances, and school activities throughout the district.

Schwertner has said, “A strong BISD is vital to the success of our community and, most importantly, to the future of the children of our community.”


Board Officers Selected for 2026–2027

Following the administration of the oaths, the Board of Trustees convened and selected officers for the upcoming year.

The Board officers are:

• President: Mason Howard
• Vice President: Scott Schwertner
• Secretary: Jerry Adkins
• Assistant Secretary: Joe Rinehart

Brazosport ISD extends its congratulations to Trustee Howard on his oath of office and thanks all members of the Board of Trustees for their continued dedication and service to BISD students, staff, families, and the community.
