Congratulations to Brazoswood High School senior Conor Braun for being named a 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalist!
This distinguished honor recognizes Conor’s exceptional performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), placing him among the nation’s top high school students. He now has the opportunity to advance in the competition for nearly 6,870 National Merit Scholarships, totaling $26 million, to be awarded next spring.
"This recognition highlights Conor’s hard work, dedication, and desire to be ready for his future," said Brazoswood High School Principal Dr. Jarrett Johnson. "We wish him the best as he moves forward in the competition."
Conor has earned recognition through the College Board National Recognition Program – School Recognition Award and was named an AP Scholar with Distinction. He also served as Lead Engineer for his Rocketry Team in a previous school year, demonstrating leadership and problem-solving skills in STEM. Looking ahead, Conor hopes to pursue a degree that will allow him to advance the field of artificial intelligence.
Semifinalists were selected from a pool of over 1.3 million juniors across approximately 21,000 high schools nationwide. Representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, these students achieved the highest scores in the state. To qualify as Finalists, Semifinalists must submit a comprehensive scholarship application highlighting their academic record, leadership experience, participation in school and community activities, employment, and honors and awards received. Additionally, students must earn SAT® or ACT® scores that confirm their qualifying test performance.
