The Brazoswood Buccaneer Band, under the leadership of first year director Nicholas Shurtleff, earned top honors at the Region Band Marching Competition on October 10 at Freedom Field, receiving all 1st Division ratings.The band advanced to the Area competition scheduled for Saturday, November 2 at the same location.
Advancement to Area requires a band to receive a composite 1st Division score. The band received a perfect score of 1st Division ratings by all judges to earn their composite score. Depending on the number of bands that advance to the area competition from their region and the other regions represented, four to five bands will advance to state.
Notably, this marks the 44th consecutive year that the Buccaneer Band has earned 1st Division ratings in marching–a remarkable tradition of excellence.
“This incredible achievement is a testament not only to the talent and dedication of our students but also to the leadership and guidance provided by our band directors,” Ron Redden, BISD Assistant Superintendent and Supervisor of Fine Arts shared. “For 44 years, the Buccaneer Band has set a high standard of excellence in marching, and this year is no exception. We are proud of their hard work and excited to see them continue to excel at the Area competition."
