This is the image for the news article titled BISD Celebrates Career and Technical Education MonthFebruary is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a time to spotlight the powerful role CTE programs play in preparing students for high-wage, high-skill, and in-demand careers. At Brazosport ISD, CTE is more than a pathway, it is a launchpad for students to discover their passions and gain the real-world skills needed for life after graduation.

With both the Brazoswood and Brazosport High School CTE Centers fully operational, BISD students continue to benefit from expanded access to state-of-the-art equipment, specialized learning spaces, and hands-on instruction designed to mirror today’s workforce. These modern facilities represent the district’s strong commitment to providing meaningful, career-focused learning experiences made possible through bond initiatives and valuable partnerships with local industry.

Students across BISD explore a wide range of career pathways, including Welding, Construction, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Health Science, Graphic Design, Rocketry, Robotics, and Veterinary Technology. Some programs, such as Vet Tech Services, even offer grooming and animal care services to the community, giving students authentic, real-world experience while serving others.

“Career and Technical Education is about preparing students for what comes next,” said Bridgette Percle, BISD Executive CTE Director. “When students develop real-world, future-ready skills, whether in the kitchen, the shop, or the lab, they gain confidence in their abilities and a clear vision for life beyond high school. Our goal is to ensure each CTE student graduates workforce-ready, with the technical skills, professionalism, and adaptability needed to succeed in college, careers, and an ever-changing workforce. Our CTE teachers and staff are instrumental in not only making that vision possible but making it a reality.”

BISD’s CTE programs extend beyond traditional classroom learning. Students have opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications, gain dual credit, and develop leadership skills through career and technical student organizations. These experiences help ensure graduates are prepared to enter the workforce, continue their education, or serve in the military with confidence and a competitive edge.

As BISD celebrates CTE Month, the district recognizes the dedication of its CTE teachers, staff, industry partners, and students who work together to turn career dreams into achievable goal — one skill, certification, and hands-on project at a time.
