Performing memorized solos in foreign languages, students from Brazoswood High School demonstrated exceptional musical achievement at the Region 17 UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest held Saturday, February 21, 2026. Four choir students each earned Division I (Superior) ratings on Class 1 solo performances—the highest rating awarded.
The following students received Superior ratings:
- Zoey Garcia
- Alice Mayes
- Audrey Washington
- Josh Rios
Each solo was selected from a prescribed list from the University Interscholastic League and performed from memory, showcasing advanced vocal technique, musical expression, and dedication to the art of performance.
“These students demonstrated remarkable commitment and artistry,” said choir director Chris Hutchinson. “Preparing and memorizing solos in foreign languages requires focus, discipline, and confidence. I’m proud of how they represented Brazoswood and their passion for music.”
Each student is now eligible to compete at the State UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition later this spring. Congratulations to these talented Buccaneers on their outstanding achievement.
