At the June 15, 2026 Board of Trustees meeting, Brazosport Independent School District trustees approved the compensation plan for the 2026–2027 school year, reinforcing the district’s commitment to investing in its employees and recognizing the vital role every staff member plays in student success.

The approved compensation plan includes over $2 million in staff compensation enhancements, providing meaningful increases for employees across the district.

Highlights of the 2026–2027 compensation plan include:

  • Over $2 million total investment in employee compensation
  • 1.5% general pay increase for all staff
  • The district will increase monthly employee benefit contributions by $50 = $600 per year

The compensation plan reflects the district’s ongoing efforts to recruit, retain, and support high-quality educators and staff while remaining fiscally responsible. The average teacher salary increase over the last two years is $2,550 for teachers with 0-4 years of experience and $5,625 for teachers with 5 or more years of experience.

Despite ongoing school funding challenges throughout the state and a depressed local economy, Brazosport ISD has approved a balanced budget while continuing to invest in employees and student services. With a declining student enrollment, BISD Board of Trustees continues to prioritize reducing staff through natural attrition instead of layoffs.

“Brazosport ISD is successful because of the dedicated people who serve our students every day,” said Danny Massey, Superintendent of Brazosport ISD. “This compensation plan demonstrates our commitment to investing in our employees and recognizing the contributions they make to our schools, families, and community.”

The district’s investment extends beyond salary increases and includes continued support for employee benefits, helping ensure that Brazosport ISD remains a competitive employer in the region.

“We value every member of the BISD team,” said Mason Howard, President of the Board of Trustees. “From our teachers and paraprofessionals to our custodians, transportation staff, administrators, and support personnel, each employee plays an important role in student achievement. We are proud to approve a compensation plan that reflects our appreciation for their dedication and service.”

Brazosport ISD remains committed to attracting and retaining exceptional employees while creating an environment where staff members feel valued, supported, and empowered to make a difference in the lives of students.
