Clute Intermediate Students Earn Countywide Recognition in Multiple Essay Contests

Eighth grader Layla Solis and seventh grader Norah Minter were honored as Brazoria County winners during the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee Awards Ceremony held February 26, 2026, at the Gator Ballroom at Brazosport College. Their essays explored the theme “MLK: 40 Years of Keeping the Dream Alive,” earning both students certificates and monetary awards for their thoughtful reflections on the enduring impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.

In addition, Norah and Layla earned 1st and 2nd place honors in the Brazoria County USDA Water & Soil Essay Contest. Their work highlighted the importance of protecting natural resources and demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. The contest chairman has requested a photo with the students to be featured in local media.

“Layla and Norah are shining examples of the pride and talent we see every day at Clute Intermediate,” said Principal Tara Fulton. “Their achievements reflect not only their dedication to learning but also their ability to use their voices to make meaningful connections to history, community, and the world around them.”
