Brazosport ISD is proud to announce that its Child Nutrition Department has once again received top recognition through the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Farm Fresh Challenge, earning the prestigious Cream of the Crop award.
In addition to this state honor, the department was also recognized through the USDA Foods Challenge for successfully utilizing 95% of its USDA entitlement—an achievement that highlights the team’s commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and high-quality meal service for students.
The awards were presented at MegaCon, where BISD representatives accepted the honors on behalf of the district. The recognition reflects the department’s continued dedication to incorporating fresh, locally sourced foods into school meals while maintaining excellence in program operations.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized and to represent Brazosport ISD and our Child Nutrition Department,” said Sandra Botello, BISD Child Nutrition Director. “I’m very proud of the work our team has put in to achieve this accomplishment. This recognition truly reflects the dedication of our kitchen teams and CN administrative staff, whose hard work, commitment, and passion for serving our students every day made this possible.”
The TDA Farm Fresh Challenge encourages schools across Texas to increase the use of Texas-grown products, promote nutrition education, and support local agricultural producers. Earning the Cream of the Crop distinction signifies exceptional leadership and innovation in these areas.
