The Early College Academy builds on the strong dual credit partnership between Brazosport ISD and Brazosport College, where students are already demonstrating success in college-level coursework. The new program offers a clearly defined academic sequence that guides students toward Texas Core Curriculum completion by the time they graduate high school, with the option to continue toward earning an associate degree.

“We are grateful for the partnership with Brazosport College in creating a more defined pathway with classes in our high school campuses for our students to graduate with both a high school diploma along with significant college credentials,” BISD Superintendent Danny Massey said. “This pathway accelerates learning, reduces future costs, and opens new possibilities for each student.”

Students will begin with a semester-long orientation designed to support their transition into college-level learning. During this time, participants are introduced to academic expectations, support services, and college leadership, gaining insight into the resources available to help them succeed.

Following orientation, students move into a structured sequence of courses aligned with Texas Core Curriculum requirements. Under state law, these credits transfer as a complete block to any public college or university in Texas, providing students with a strong academic foundation and expanded postsecondary options.

Throughout the program, students receive ongoing advising, progress monitoring, and coordinated academic support to help them stay on track each semester. While earning college credit, participants remain fully engaged in the high school experience, including athletics and extracurricular activities.

In addition to academic benefits, the Early College Academy offers significant financial value. Students who complete the pathway may save approximately $15,000 per year in future college expenses based on average resident tuition and fee comparisons from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Through continued collaboration with Brazosport College, Brazosport ISD remains committed to providing meaningful pathways that help students graduate future-ready with confidence, purpose, and opportunity.
