The Texas State Shoot at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio on June 8th-10th brought out the best of the best, and the Brazoswood FFA Shotgun Sports Team showed up with grit, determination, and heart! This team poured blood, sweat, and tears into every practice, every competition, and every round fired this season—and it paid off.
To qualify for the State Shoot, students had to participate in a qualifying shoot which for Brazoswood took place during January. They also participated in 2 major rodeo shoots, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Young Guns and the San Antonio Stockshow and Rodeo’s Junior Shootout.
The students practiced throughout the year every Tuesday and Thursday after school, competing with each other for a spot on either the mixed-gender or all-male team. Five competitors went to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) Ag Clay 381 State Shoot.
Mr Tyler Lovell was the coach and sponsor for the Brazoswood FFA Shotgun team and when asked, he said, “This team has shown dedication and a true love for the sport from the start. I am proud to say that these young adults proudly put Brazoswood on their backs and showed everyone, ‘Where ya from? Brazoswood!’”
Congratulations to Mr. Lovell and the entire FFA Shotgun Sports Team for this outstanding accomplishment. As Mr. Lovell says, “Keep aiming high!”
