At the April 20, 2026 meeting, the Brazosport ISD Board of Trustees approved a small adjustment to the 2026–2027 instructional calendar and also approved the 2027–2028 instructional calendar.
The only change to the 2026–2027 calendar is the removal of end-of-semester half days. Instead, students will attend a full day of instruction on Wednesday, May 19, 2027, followed by teacher work days on Thursday and Friday, May 20-21, 2027. In addition, Thursday, December 17, 2026, will now be a full instructional day, with students beginning winter break on Friday, December 18, 2026, which will be a teacher work day.
District officials emphasized that this change does not affect the total amount of instructional time or staff workload. The number of instructional minutes remains the same, and the overall structure of the school year is unchanged aside from the shift away from half days.
The Board also approved the 2027–2028 instructional calendar, which continues the same structure as the updated 2026–2027 calendar, including full instructional days at the end of each semester instead of half days. The update and approval were supported by the Calendar Committee, District Improvement Committee, and Campus Improvement Committees, all of which favored replacing half days with full instructional days followed by teacher work days.
