Brazoswood High School’s yearbook, journalism, and photography students and staff have achieved an extraordinary milestone, earning 37 individual and staff awards at the prestigious Texas Association of Journalism Educators (TAJE) Best in Texas Contest. This record-breaking achievement marks a new record for the program and is a testament to the talent, dedication, and creativity of the Brazoswood teachers and team.
Among the 37 winning awards, 13 individual students were recognized for their outstanding work, contributing to the program's impressive success. The collective awards showcase a wide range of skills in storytelling, photography, design, and journalistic excellence.
"We always strive to create a product that not only we can be proud of, but that students will enjoy reading for years to come," said Journalism Teacher Lela Siegel. "Achieving 37 awards and breaking our program record is a testament to my student’s and staff’s dedication to achieving that goal."
The TAJE Best in Texas Contest is one of the most competitive in the state, drawing entries from top journalism programs. Brazoswood’s success is a reflection of the program’s commitment to fostering creativity and excellence.
“This incredible accomplishment speaks volumes about the talent and work ethic of our students and staff,” added Brazoswood Principal Dr. Jarrett Johnson. “Their dedication continues to raise the standard for excellence, and we cannot wait to see what they achieve next.”
