Brazosport ISD Approves Major Employee Compensation Increases for 2025–2026, Prioritizes All Staff
At the June school board meeting, Brazosport Independent School District trustees approved the compensation plan for the 2025–2026 school year, reflecting the district’s commitment to support every educator and staff member.
This year’s legislative session resulted in House Bill 2 (HB2), which directs significant state funding toward most classroom teachers’ compensation, and some state funding for other vital staffing categories. We are excited to announce that teachers will receive an average 6% salary increase. After strategic planning and reviewing all areas of the district, and the constraints of HB2’s funding allocations, Brazosport ISD will provide a 4% raise from the midpoint of each job classification category to ensure compensation increases for all employees.
HB2 state funding increases for classroom teachers:
- 3-4 years experience- $2,500 base salary increase
- 5 or more years experience- $5,000 base salary increase
All other staff increases:
- Increase starting teacher salary to $62,000; one year teacher experience increased by $2,000; two years teacher experience increased by $2,300
- 4% base salary increase from midpoint of new pay grade categories
- Increased pay for all hourly staff
Brazosport ISD will continue to provide additional compensation in the form of stipends for teachers in the high need areas of: Special Education, Career and Technical Education, Secondary Science and Math, and Bilingual. Compensation will increase and continue to expand for the Teacher Incentive Allotment, in which 180 classroom teachers earned over $1.8 million dollars in additional money last school year for student learning growth.
“We are committed to recognizing the dedication and value of every employee across our district,” said Danny Massey, Superintendent of Brazosport ISD. “Thanks to careful fiscal management and strategic use of funding, we are able to go above and beyond HB2’s provisions to offer meaningful compensation increases to all staff.”
“This compensation plan is a huge win for every BISD employee,” said Mason Howard, President, Board of Trustees. “We are proud to put our people first—because when our staff thrives, our students succeed.”
The Board of Trustees will adopt the 2025-2026 budget at the August 18 Regular Board Meeting.
