Brazosport Independent School District is excited to share that Javier Montiel, a dedicated teacher at Freeport Elementary and the visionary founder of the International Aerospace Academy, has been named an HonourID Celebrity Educator. This prestigious recognition celebrates Montiel’s transformative contributions to space education, aerospace research, and technology, inspiring students and educators worldwide.
A passionate space enthusiast and bilingual educator, Montiel has devoted his career to empowering communities through innovative educational initiatives. As a Specialist in International Space Education with the ISS Mimic Project and a contributor to the ExoLab-11 mission, he has ignited curiosity about space exploration in countless young minds. Montiel’s bilingual book on space research for children bridges the gap between science and young learners, making space education accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.
Montiel’s hard work has earned him several well-deserved honors, including being named one of the Top 100 Visionaries in Education, receiving the Tony So Award for Excellence in Education, the Hispanic Hero Award, and the Cherri Brinley Outstanding Educator Award from NASA. These awards highlight his commitment to sparking a passion for space exploration in schools and communities globally.
HonourID will celebrate Montiel’s achievement by featuring him on their Wall of Fame at HonourID.com, an event they have dubbed "Extra Special" for space enthusiasts.
