Over two exciting days, students from across Brazosport ISD put their literary knowledge to the test in the district’s 11th Annual Name That Book Competition. This event, led by BISD librarians, challenges students to identify books from the Great Texas Mosquito List based on carefully crafted clues. Teams work together to determine the correct titles—using teamwork, critical thinking, and a shared love of reading—while keeping their answers discreet from competitors.
From kindergarten through intermediate grades, participating students read up to 20 books in preparation for the event. Their dedication and love for reading were on full display as they navigated each round, leading up to the announcement of this year’s top teams:

Books on the Great Texas Mosquito List are carefully selected by BISD librarians, who consider grade level, diverse genres, and student interests to ensure an engaging and enriching reading experience. These books are featured in local libraries, making them easily accessible for students. The highly anticipated 2025–2026 list was unveiled at the competition and is now available at our campus libraries as well as local public libraries.
This competition promotes a love of reading, encourages new genres, builds teamwork, and sharpens critical thinking skills. We are SO proud of every student who participated—your hard work and dedication truly stood out!
