Safety Rider Tips for Students

  1. Arrive Early: Be at your stop at least five minutes before pickup time.
  2. Wait Safely: Stand back from the curb until the bus comes to a complete stop.
  3. Follow Directions: Listen to your driver’s instructions—your driver is there to keep you safe.
  4. Use the Handrail: Always hold the handrail when getting on or off the bus.
  5. Stay Seated: Remain in your seat and face forward while the bus is moving
  6. Wear Seatbelt: Click your seat belt and keep it on until you arrive at your destination.
  7. Keep the Aisle Clear: Backpacks and belongings should stay on your lap or under the seat.
  8. Be Respectful: Use quiet voices and kind words—help keep distractions to a minimum.
  9. Cross with Caution: Always look both ways and make eye contact with your driver before crossing the street.

Safety Awareness for Motorists

National School Bus Safety Week has a long-standing tradition of emphasizing the importance of stopping when school bus stop arms are displayed, reducing speeds in school zones, and avoiding distractions like cell phones while driving. These simple actions can make a significant difference in keeping our students safe.

Our Commitment to Safety

  •  All BISD drivers complete state and federally mandated ELDT training and ongoing professional development.
  • Every bus is inspected daily and maintained under strict safety standards.
  • We partner with local law enforcement and safety officials to ensure the highest level of readiness.
  • Our team works closely with schools and parents to promote a culture of safe, respectful, and responsible riding.

Let’s celebrate School Bus Safety Week by recommitting to safe habits and teamwork between drivers, students, and families.
