BISD Celebrates Nutritional Meals During National School Lunch Week Oct. 13-17

This week marks National School Lunch Week (NSLW), a nationwide celebration of the National School Lunch Program, which plays a vital role in promoting student nutrition. This year’s theme, "Taste the World – Your School Lunch Passport," highlights the importance of providing nutritious meals that support students’ academic success and overall well-being.
Research consistently shows that school meals play a significant role in children's overall health. Our program continues to ensure that all students receive healthy options, with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and milk offered daily—completely free this year through the Community Eligibility Program (CEP).
"Our commitment to providing nutritious meals that fuel our students’ learning remains stronger than ever," BISD Director of Child Nutrition Sandra Botello shared. "Even as classes take a short break this week, National School Lunch Week reminds us of the vital role our meal programs play in supporting students’ health and success every day of the school year.”
