Brazosport ISD is pleased to announce that Sara Jatala has been named as the new principal of A.P. Beutel Elementary School.
Sara brings more than 20 years of experience in education with a strong background in leadership and student support. Her experience includes overseeing key areas like special programs, teacher evaluations, student management and leading initiatives that strengthen student involvement and the campus atmosphere. She has served as Assistant Principal at Brazoswood High School for the past seven years and previously worked in Spring Branch and Alief school districts as an assistant principal, counselor, and special education teacher —giving her valuable experience across multiple grade levels.
“I believe in the power of each student and their ability to achieve great things,” Sara shared. “I look forward to working with the Beutel community to continue building a campus where all students and staff feel valued and supported.”
Sara is a graduate of Brazoswood High School, holds a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction (Special Education) from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, along with certifications in school counseling and the superintendency.
Superintendent Danny Massey shared, “Sara is a strong leader with a heart for kids. We look forward to Beutel continuing to be a special place.”
Sara Jatala will step into this new role in the coming school year, following the retirement of Laura Morris who has led Beutel Elementary since 2012. Under Laura’s leadership the campus has seen many years of growth and achievement, and the district is grateful for her longtime commitment to Beutel students and staff. Beutel has been recognized twice as a National Blue Ribbon School, in 2007 and again in 2021 for its academic excellence and progress in closing achievement gaps. The district extends a heartfelt thank you to Ms. Morris for her years of dedicated leadership at Beutel and wishes her all the best in her well-earned retirement.
