The purpose of the BISD Educator Spotlight Award is to recognize outstanding teachers across our district. These are teachers who go above and beyond for not only students, but for their co-workers, as well. They are knocking instruction out of the park, they are collaborative team members, and support all learners. This month we put the spotlight on teachers Merilyn Broaddus of Brazoswood High and Lacie Fletcher from Stephen F. Austin Elementary! Secondary Spotlight Teacher - Merilynn Broaddus from Brazoswood High School
Mrs. Broaddus is described to have a true love for working with students and always has a smile. Her peers stated that working with Mrs. Broaddus is an inspiring experience—her incredible teaching style and genuine love for her students create an environment where learning thrives. She brings enthusiasm and dedication to every lesson, making a real difference in her students' lives. Her commitment to their growth and success is truly remarkable, and it's a privilege to work alongside someone who cares so deeply. Merilynn’s students are fortunate to have her as their teacher. She’s always smiling, takes time to ask about their day, and encourages them to make positive choices. She genuinely cares for her students and is always ready to help anyone—students, teachers, and others—whenever needed.
Elementary Spotlight Teacher - Lacie Fletcher from Stephen F. Austin Elementary
Lacie is gifted at developing relationships with the students that she serves, and she also takes the time to build positive relationships with all of the students on campus. Her peers describe her as an amazing team player who is welcoming, supportive, dedicated and always has a positive attitude. What really makes Mrs. Fletcher stand out is her ability to help all of our students. She doesn’t just support those who need extra help—she’s there for everyone. She works hard to ensure all lessons are made accessible for all students, no matter where they’re at in their learning journey. Mrs. Fletcher helps create an environment where every student can thrive.
