Red Ribbon Week in BISD, Oct. 27-31

Brazosport ISD is proud to join schools and communities across the nation in celebrating Red Ribbon Week — the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country — from October 27–31, 2025.
This year’s theme,
“Life is a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free,” encourages students to make positive choices that keep them on the path to reaching their full potential. Continuing a long-standing district tradition, fourth grade students will participate in the popular
CHICKEN (Cool, Honest, Intelligent, Clear-Headed, Keen, Energetic, Not-interested-in-drugs) Club assemblies. These high-energy rallies, held at both Brazosport and Brazoswood high schools, are designed to empower students with uplifting messages about making safe, healthy decisions.
Throughout the week, every BISD campus will host creative, student-centered activities aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs while promoting healthy, productive lifestyles. Fun events often include themed dress-up days such as “Socking It to Drugs” (wearing colorful socks) or “Teaming Up Against Drugs” (wearing favorite team shirts).
Since its launch in 1985, Red Ribbon Week has touched millions of lives across the globe. The campaign began as a grassroots movement in response to the tragic death of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, as parents and youth rallied together, wearing red ribbons to symbolize their commitment to a drug-free future.
BISD invites families, staff, and community members to join in supporting students as they proudly demonstrate their commitment to staying drug-free. Visit the link below to see the schedule of activities planned on each campus.
