This is the image for the news article titled Brazosport ISD Mourns the Loss of Joe RinehartBrazosport Independent School District is deeply saddened by the passing of longtime Board of Trustees member and beloved community leader Joe Rinehart.

Joe Rinehart gave so much of himself to Brazosport ISD and to the community he loved. His connection to the district spanned decades—as a teacher and coach, a mentor, a trustee and, most importantly, as someone who genuinely cared about students, staff and schools.

Joe never simply served on the Board. He showed up. He was there at our campuses. He was there for our students. He was there for athletic events, performances, celebrations and countless district activities. He made it a point to be present and to let people know that what they were doing mattered.

Even while enduring unimaginable pain, Joe continued to show up. That is one of the things that will be remembered most about him.

Joe's dedication was never about recognition. He served because he believed in Brazosport ISD and because he believed in the people who make this district special. His years as an educator gave him a unique understanding of the importance of supporting teachers and providing students with every opportunity to succeed. His years as a trustee allowed him to continue that work in a different way.

He brought wisdom, experience, humor, determination and a genuine love for this community to everything he did.

His service to Brazosport ISD was only one part of a lifetime dedicated to others. As a lifelong Lake Jackson resident, educator, coach, veteran, former city councilman and former mayor, Joe spent his life giving back to the community he called home. In 2016, he was inducted into the Brazosport ISD Wall of Fame, and in 2024 he was named the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce's Man of the Year.

But to so many in Brazosport ISD, he was simply Joe. The familiar face at a campus event. The trustee who knew our schools. The former teacher who understood our educators. The community leader who never stopped caring. The person who could always be counted on to be there—because being there mattered to him.

Brazosport ISD will miss seeing Joe walk through our doors. We will miss seeing him at campuses and events. We will miss his voice, his humor, his perspective and his unmistakable presence. Most of all, the district will miss knowing that Joe was there.

We extend its deepest condolences to Becky, Molly, Meredith and the entire Rinehart family. The district is grateful for the years Joe shared with our students, educators and community, and for the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
