Sophomore Elias Rios of Brazosport High School earned 3rd chair in the placement audition and performed with the Texas 4A All-State Band on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio during the annual Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic/Convention — one of the most competitive and respected music honor systems in Texas. This marks Elias’s second year as an All-State musician, reflecting his continued dedication and talent.
Each year, tens of thousands of high school musicians across the state audition at the region level, performing selected music for panels of judges. Top-ranking students advance through successive rounds of Region and Area auditions, with only the highest-ranking musicians qualifying to perform in one of 18 All-State ensembles at the statewide convention. Selected musicians spend several days rehearsing with nationally acclaimed conductors before performing for thousands of attendees at the convention’s culminating concerts.
Being chosen for the All-State Band is considered one of the highest honors a Texas high school musician can achieve, reflecting exceptional dedication, musicianship, and performance skill. Elias’s accomplishment highlights not only his talent and hard work, but also the strength of the Brazosport High School music program under the leadership of band director Dennis Boucher.
“We are incredibly proud of Elias for earning a spot in the All-State Band and representing Brazosport High School at this prestigious event,” Boucher said. “His passion and commitment to excellence are evident in his achievement.”
