BISD Names New Principal for S.F. Austin Elementary School
Jessica Robertson has been selected as the new principal of S.F. Austin Elementary School for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. With a proven track record of academic growth, student engagement, and campus leadership, Jessica brings more than a decade of experience in education and administration to the role.
Jessica has served as the Assistant Principal at the Velasco and Lanier campuses for the past five years and was recently named the 2024–2025 BISD District Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year—a reflection of her leadership and unwavering commitment to student success. Throughout her career, she has helped guide campuses to distinction and recognition at both the state and national levels.
Working alongside campus leadership, she played a key role in guiding Lanier to become a Capturing Kids’ Hearts Showcase School—a distinction the campus has maintained since 2019. Her collaborative efforts also contributed to the school’s designation as a 2021 National School to Watch. In recognition of these successes, she was invited to share best practices as a featured presenter at the 2022 Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) Making Middle School Matter Symposium.
Robertson’s leadership extends to instructional excellence as well. Both Lanier and Velasco Elementary have been named Model PLC Campuses by Solution Tree, reflecting a sustained focus on professional learning communities, collaboration, and student achievement.
A former Distinguished Teacher and Grade-Level Lead, Jessica has served in multiple leadership roles including Summer School Head Administrator, Title I Lead, and ARD/504 Administrator. She holds a Master of Arts in Education Administration from Lamar University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Western Governors University.
Certified in Principal EC-12, Special Education EC-12, and Core Subjects 4–8, Jessica Robertson also brings specialized training as a Google Level 1 Educator and extensive experience with Title I, LPAC (Language Proficiency Assessment Committee), PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), and academic intervention programs.
