Funded through a Texas Education Agency (TEA) Cycle 1 Grant, this transformative project will ensure seamless connectivity for first responders, staff, and students across all BISD campuses and support facilities.

As part of this initiative, Public Safety Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA) will be installed in all school instructional facilities and all support facilities to enhance emergency communication capabilities and ensure alignment with the latest fire code standards. Additionally, cellular BDAs will be implemented across every BISD campus. These advanced communication systems will ensure seamless radio and cellular coverage for police, fire, and EMS personnel within school buildings while also enhancing the district’s mass notification system and daily connectivity for students and staff.

“As a district, safety remains a top priority, and clear, reliable communication is a crucial part of keeping our schools secure,” said Ty Morrow, Executive Chief of Safety and Security for BISD. “This investment ensures that first responders can communicate without interruption in any emergency and that our students and staff stay connected when it matters most.”

These upgrades will:
  • Ensure First Responder Radio Coverage – Public safety BDAs will amplify radio signals, ensuring clear communication for police, fire, and EMS personnel inside school buildings.
  • Improve Cellular Connectivity – Cellular BDAs will enhance mobile signals for students, staff, and mass notification systems, helping keep everyone informed.
  • Meet Fire Code Standards – The project ensures compliance with NFPA 1221 and IFC 510 requirements for in-building emergency radio coverage.

BISD has partnered with MCA, a leader in in-building wireless solutions, to deploy Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES) and Cellular Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). MCA’s expertise in public education safety solutions ensures the district is equipped with cutting-edge technology that supports emergency response and everyday operations.

“We are proud to support Brazosport ISD by delivering advanced communication solutions that enhance school safety and connectivity,” said Trent Moser, Account Executive at MCA. “Our mission is to provide the critical coverage needed to keep students, staff, and first responders connected at all times.”

With work already underway, BISD is proactively addressing safety and communication challenges to create a more secure learning environment. This initiative reinforces the district’s ongoing commitment to providing innovative solutions that support student success and community well-being.
