In a significant move towards enhancing school safety, Brazosport Independent School District has completed advanced active shooter response training in collaboration with local law enforcement.
This past weekend, BISD’s Level 3 Armed Security Officers, along with Lake Jackson SWAT personnel, participated in the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) for Active Shooter situations. The two-day training, held on Saturday and Sunday, was designed to elevate the preparedness of the district’s security team and local SWAT members in responding to potential emergency scenarios.
We extend our gratitude to Sergeant Jason Knopp and Detective Cody Dunn of the Lake Jackson SWAT Team, who volunteered their time to lead this essential training. Their leadership and instruction helped to ensure that our officers are well-equipped to respond to any emergency situation with professionalism and precision.
BISD Level III Security Staff who participated in the training include: Jessica Jackson, Jerry Forentenberry, Seth Collard, Michael Hurn, Joshua Butler, Michael Cooper, Patrick Hernandez, Fabin Zavala, Rafael Rincon, William Higinbotham, and Ali Haider. This intensive course reflects BISD's ongoing commitment to the safety and security of all campuses.
Ty Morrow shared, "The ALERRT training is crucial in ensuring that our team is ready to respond to any situation. We are incredibly thankful for the strong partnership with our local police departments, including the Lake Jackson SWAT team. Working together with our municipal partners ensures the safety of both our schools and the broader community, and we look forward to continuing this important collaboration and training in the future."
