The Brazoswood Lady Bucs closed out another remarkable season by earning State Runner-Up at the UIL Water Polo Championships over the weekend. In an intense and exciting state tournament match held on Saturday in San Antonio, the Lady Bucs battled Flower Mound Marcus, coming within a single goal of defending their title, finishing 13–14 at the Josh Davis Natatorium.
Their path to the championship included a dominant 15–8 victory over Boerne Champion in the State Semifinal on Friday, October 24, 2025, securing their spot in the final for the third consecutive year.
Superintendent Danny Massey shared, “The Lady Bucs have shown incredible talent, determination, and sportsmanship. Their success reflects the strength of our athletic programs and the dedication of our students and coaches. Brazosport ISD is proud of all they have accomplished this season.”
Over the past four seasons, Brazoswood has built a remarkable legacy, earning four consecutive UIL State medals: Bronze in 2022, Silver in 2023, Gold in 2024, and Silver in 2025.“The Lady Bucs’ performance this season exemplifies what it means to compete at the highest level,” BISD Director of Athletics Coach Jay Zeller added. “Their consistency, skill, and teamwork are a testament to their hard work and the leadership of Coach Brown. We’re proud to have such a model program representing Brazosport ISD.”
When asked what he was most proud of about his team, Head Coach Robert Brown said, “Their resilience. They battle and they compete hard —they leave it all in the pool. I can’t be more proud of them.”
The Lady Bucs’ dedication, teamwork, and grit continue to make Brazoswood a powerhouse in Texas high school water polo and a source of pride for Brazosport ISD and the community.
