Lauren is a proud Brazoswood graduate and accomplished distance runner, bringing a deep passion for the sport, extensive experience in distance training, and a clear vision for leading the team to continued success.

“We were very intentional with our efforts in finding someone with an expertise in distance training,” said BISD Athletic Director Jay Zeller. “She is a Brazoswood graduate who still holds the Brazoswood records in the 1600m and 3200m.”

A 2013 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Nutrition, Stroud has most recently served as a PE teacher in Angleton ISD. In addition to her experience in training distance athletes, she brings the experience of a competitive running career, including qualifying for the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials and setting a Guinness World Record for the half marathon (female pushing a stroller). As a former Division I student-athlete at SFA, she competed in both cross country and track & field, while actively giving back through community volunteer work.

“I’m incredibly honored to return to Brazoswood in this role,” Coach Stroud shared. “Cross country shaped me into who I am today. I’m excited to share my knowledge and love of the sport with a new generation of athletes and help lead this team to its next level of success.”

BISD looks forward to the expertise Lauren will bring to the program and the positive impact she will have on student-athletes both on and off the field.
