Brazosport High School student Ulises Varela recently represented Brazosport ISD at the SkillsUSA Washington Leadership Training Institute, held September 20-24 in Washington, D.C.
Ulises made history within the national organization by becoming the very first recipient of the National Statesman Award to complete his interview in Spanish. This groundbreaking milestone will soon be featured on the SkillsUSA national website.
In addition to his award, Ulises joined his district officer team on Capitol Hill, where they advocated for Career and Technical Education (CTE) and proudly represented BISD. His leadership, dedication, and accomplishments reflect the strength of BISD’s CTE programs and the opportunities made possible through community support.
“Ulises not only made us proud, but he also made history,” said his SkillsUSA Advisor, Kendyl Burke. “His dedication, leadership, and accomplishment demonstrate the incredible opportunities that Career and Technical Education provides for our students.”
Join us in celebrating Ulises’ achievements and the recognition he has brought to his campus, district, and community through SkillsUSA.
