The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has once again awarded Brazosport ISD the highest possible rating in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). The district earned a Superior Achievement “A” rating, continuing its long-standing record of financial excellence and accountability.
Since the state launched the rating system in 2001, BISD has consistently earned the Superior Achievement designation. The FIRST rating evaluates districts on 21 financial indicators, including administrative cost expenditures, the accuracy of financial reporting to TEA, compliance with debt obligations, long-term debt ratios, and solvency-related measures. This comprehensive assessment ensures districts maintain prudent financial practices while effectively supporting student success.
BISD Chief Financial Officer Ludy Cansino said the rating reflects the district’s continued focus on sound financial practices. “We are proud to once again earn the state’s highest designation for financial integrity,” Cansino said. “A score of 95 demonstrates our commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency. Our team works diligently to ensure that every dollar is managed wisely in support of student success.”
Superintendent Danny Massey also commended the district’s achievement. “This recognition highlights the exceptional work of our Board of Trustees and leadership across the district,” Massey said. “Financial excellence allows us to focus on our mission —ensuring every student graduates future-ready— while honoring the trust of our community.”
BISD’s consistent record of financial excellence underscores its commitment to efficiency, accountability, and educational quality. For more information about the FIRST ratings, visit the
