Brazosport Independent School District teachers will receive a combined total of over $1.8 million in their August paychecks from the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program.
TIA was established by the Texas Legislature to provide a pathway for top teachers to earn significant bonuses based on student academic outcomes, with the ultimate goal of attracting and retaining highly effective educators, particularly in traditionally hard-to-staff schools. The designations and state funding for TIA are valid for five consecutive years. BISD’s Local Designation Plan is designed to identify the top 30% of eligible teachers each year for designation. Brazosport ISD is rewarding 187 designated earners, with 58 newly designated teachers, 22 higher designated teachers, and 107 existing designated teachers. There are three levels of designations that teachers can be awarded. Recognized designations are awarded an additional $3,900-$7,000; Exemplary designations are awarded an additional $7,800-$14,000; Master designations are awarded an additional $15,000-$25,300.
This is the third year of implementation and Brazosport ISD’s second round of approved TIA data and designations. After BISD submitted two years of teacher designation data and successfully passed two rounds of rigorous state validation, the district is excited to share that by this summer, more than $3.1 million will have been awarded to our amazing BISD TIA-designated teachers. Brazosport ISD was the first school district in Brazoria County to be fully approved and whose teachers have earned additional compensation through TIA.
The district is currently finalizing the payout process for the most recent round of approved designations, which will be distributed this summer. In addition, the district is simultaneously active with data collection for the 2024-2025 school year and plans to move forward in finalizing the 2024-2025 data for submission in October.
“The continued growth of our Teacher Incentive Allotment program is a reflection of BISD’s commitment to student success,” said Synamon High, TIA and Evaluations Coordinator. “These allotments are a meaningful way to recognize and reward our teachers for the incredible impact they make in the classroom and beyond.”
All BISD teachers are eligible for the recognized award level through National Board Certification, while specific courses and teaching roles are eligible for additional stipends with BISD’s Local Designation Plan for TIA. Brazosport ISD remains committed to recognizing and rewarding its outstanding educators by continuously refining the TIA designation process and ensuring teachers receive well-deserved compensation for their impact.
