Chelsea Patek, a Health Science teacher at Brazoswood High School, has been recognized by the Texas Health Occupations Association (THOA) as the 2026–2027 Area 2 New Teacher Award recipient. The prestigious award recognizes health science educators with five years or less of teaching experience who demonstrate excellence in the classroom and a commitment to preparing students for careers in healthcare.
Patek was nominated by fellow health science educators and advanced through a competitive selection process that included a formal interview during the 2026 THOA Summer Conference. Candidates were evaluated on their classroom instruction, leadership, professional contributions, and impact on student learning.
