Brazoswood High School is currently listed fifth among Class 6A schools statewide in the initial standings of the Texas Cup, a new athletics-only recognition program developed by the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association (THSADA).
The 2025–26 school year marks the first year of the Texas Cup, which recognizes overall athletic success based solely on postseason performance across UIL sports. Unlike the UIL Lone Star Cup, the Texas Cup does not include academics or fine arts and is released through a series of scheduled updates throughout the school year.
The first Texas Cup standings were published on January 12, 2026, and include results from Team Tennis, Cross Country, Water Polo, Volleyball, and Football. Based on those sports, Brazoswood has earned 32 points, placing the campus fifth in the current Class 6A rankings.
“This early Texas Cup listing highlights the commitment of our student-athletes and coaches across multiple programs,” said Principal Dr. Jarrett Johnson. “We appreciate the work being done every day and look forward to seeing how the remainder of the year unfolds.”
Additional updates are scheduled throughout the spring and early summer as more sports are completed, including winter and spring programs such as wrestling, swimming & diving, basketball, soccer, track and field, golf, tennis, softball, and baseball. As a result, the standings are expected to change as future updates are released.
“I’m incredibly proud of our coaches and student-athletes, BISD Athletic Director Jay Zeller shared. “Being ranked 5th among all 6A schools in this first release of the THSADA Texas Cup reflects the culture, commitment, and excellence in our district and at Brazoswood High School. We’ll celebrate this achievement while continuing to push forward together.”
Future Texas Cup updates are scheduled for March, April, May, and June as additional athletic seasons conclude.
