This is the image for the news article titled Three BISD Schools Named to Texas Honor Roll for Student AchievementCongratulations to Brannen Elementary, Polk Elementary, and Roberts Elementary for being named Texas Honor Roll Schools by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) for their exceptional performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). This recognition places these schools among the top-performing campuses in the state when it comes to improving academic outcomes for all students—including historically underserved populations.

“We know state tests do not tell the whole story of a child’s progress, but this recognition highlights the strong academic growth these campuses have demonstrated,” said Superintendent Danny Massey. “We celebrate this milestone as part of our districtwide commitment to ensuring all students are equipped with core knowledge, critical thinking skills, social-emotional development, and creativity throughout the year.”

Each year, the ERP, in collaboration with the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE) and the Texas Business Leadership Council, identifies schools that are leading the way in preparing students with the foundational skills needed for college, career, and life success. Schools are selected based solely on objective student achievement data, making the Texas Honor Roll a unique and rigorous measure of academic performance and growth.

Only about 12% of eligible schools in Texas earned a place on the 2024 Honor Roll. Honor Roll schools must consistently outperform similar campuses across the state, demonstrating student growth and achievement in both Math and Reading Language Arts over a three-year period. Additionally, schools must show evidence of strong performance among various student groups, including those who are economically disadvantaged, students receiving special education services, and students from diverse ethnic backgrounds.

The Texas Honor Roll is the only school recognition program in the state that combines the expertise of business leaders with data-based insights into academic performance. ERP analyzes publicly available STAAR data provided by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), comparing schools within peer groups based on demographics and enrollment.
