The 89th Texas legislature has passed, and Governor Abbott has signed into law,
Texas House Bill 1481, which prohibits students from using personal communication devices—such as cell phones, smartwatches, and tablets—during the school day in all Texas public schools. This law will take effect at the start of the 2025-2026 school year, on August 13.
Brazosport ISD is currently developing a plan to be in compliance with the new state law. We will communicate more information regarding how the district will implement the law with our students, staff, and parents before the start of school.
